The Process

How Our Claim Process Works

Getting help with a property damage claim starts with a conversation. Wheeler Adjustment Services, Inc. explains the work involved, the information needed, and the terms of our service. We help property owners in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and Maryland understand the next steps without promising a result before reviewing the facts.

Start with safety and prompt reporting

If damage is happening now, protect people first. Follow emergency officials' instructions and contact qualified help for urgent problems. Report the loss to your insurance company promptly. Take reasonable steps to prevent further damage when safe, and save receipts. You do not need to wait for a public adjuster to begin these steps.

Step one: Share what happened

Call or send a short message with the property location, type of damage, and date of loss if known. Tell us whether the insurer has assigned a claim number, inspected the property, or sent an estimate.

You do not need every document ready for the first conversation. Start with the facts you know. We can explain what additional information would help us understand your situation and whether our services may be appropriate.

Step two: Review the agreement

Before representation begins, we explain the proposed services and provide a written agreement. Review the fees, payment terms, cancellation rights, and responsibilities that apply to your engagement. Ask questions about anything you do not understand.

Hiring a public adjuster is your choice. Sending an online inquiry does not create a representation agreement or require you to hire Wheeler.

Step three: Review coverage and damage

Once engaged, we review the policy documents and available damage information. This may include photographs, inspection findings, repair records, and lists of affected belongings or business property.

We look at how the reported damage relates to the policy. Limits, deductibles, exclusions, and added coverage can affect a claim. A deductible is the part of a covered loss you are responsible for paying.

Step four: Prepare the claim information

We organize supporting records and prepare the claim materials included in our service agreement. Clear descriptions help explain affected areas, repair needs, and the basis for claimed amounts.

Helpful records may include:

  • The insurance policy and claim correspondence.
  • Dated photos and notes about the damage.
  • Repair estimates and emergency service invoices.
  • Receipts and descriptions of damaged belongings.

Keep copies of everything you provide.

Step five: Address questions and offers

We communicate with the insurer, respond to questions within our role, and discuss differences in estimates or findings. If additional evidence is needed, we explain what may help.

We review offers with you so you can understand what they include. You make the decision about accepting a settlement. The insurer evaluates coverage under the policy, and the outcome depends on the facts of the claim.
